A collection which doesn't just offer the usual kind of comics…
Beside their principal work on their main comics series, many artists just can't help having fun by sketching scenes of everyday life. Although they have nothing to do with comics, many of these private drawings are such small marvels that they deserve nothing less than being presented to the public. That's why the decision has been made to create a new collection series, which will bring together these artists' "tiny hallucinations." It was long overdue that someone collect these works in a specific themed series, which will allow the careful and loving presentation they deserve. This permits us to develop the concept of the series, assuring the work a durability which one-off albums would no doubt be lacking. It also allows us to invite other artists to open up their secret gardens to us…
At the beginning, these "petits délires" were solely graphic. But following the style of Laurent Verron's project -- the first to come to us -- we thought it would be amusing to submit the artist's images to a collaborating writer, thus reversing the usual process of creation: the artist wouldn't put himself at the service of the writer, but vice versa. For Verron, the collaborator will be his friend Chric. For Jannin, it will be his famous accomplice Liberski. For Boucq, it will be Karim, the writer with whom he created his already-famous press kits for the "Troisième Degré" collection…
We can be sure that many authors create "petits délires" without anyone else knowing, and with total impunity. Now that a series allows it, many will certainly want to take the opportunity to "acknowledge" them publicly. The collection, then, will be enriched at the rate that those "napkin sketches" appear which merit a publication… That said, the golden rule for the "Petits Délires" will be the same as for the other collection series: the number of new projects is not the primary goal… That goal is, instead, the quality and the lasting power of the projects which do appear.
